Have Some Summer Fun at These Upcoming Chattanooga Events

School’s almost out, the temperature is up, and summer is right around the corner! The next few months are some of the busiest ones for the Chattanooga schedule, with seasonal celebrations, community gatherings, and festive fun happening every weekend.

If you’re looking for ways to enjoy the summer and hang out with the rest of the Chattanooga community, here are the can’t-miss events.

Riverbend Festival

What: Dating back to the 1980s, the Riverbend Festival is one of Chattanooga’s most popular yearly events, bringing in hundreds of thousands of people. Over the four nights of the event, you can enjoy live music, vendors, food and drink, games, and scenic views of the Tennessee River. A few of the big names headlining this year’s festival include Weezer, Lionel Richie, Keith Urban, Macklemore.

Chattanooga Market

What: Chattanooga has four different markets scattered throughout the city, filled with a variety of vendors and goods for sale. Over the course of the next few weeks, there are tons of special events going on at the city markets, like the Strawberry Festival, the Peach Festival, and the Father’s Day Bacon, Blues & Brews celebration.

2019 Rat Race

What: Whether you’re swimming or spectating, the 2019 Rat Race is a prime event for spending a summer morning on the waterfront. Celebrating its 13th year this year, the race offers both a 2.4 mile and 4.5 mile race downstream. if you want to catch the tail end of the race, head to the Market Street Bridge.

When: June 1st, 8am

Ice Cream Safari

What: Ice cream, zoo animal meet and greets, education stations, camel rides, and more—the Ice Cream Safari is full of sweet treats and up-close interactions with the animals. The schedule for animal enrichment includes cougars, spider monkeys, sloths, chimpanzees, and white-tailed deer, and tickets are available online.

Make Music Chattanooga

What: Make Music is a worldwide celebration that aims to bring music to any many corners of the world as possible. In Chattanooga, you’ll find music lessons and workshops, jam sessions, and live performances happening all around the city, all day long.

Deep Brew Sea

What: Deep sea creatures, colorful fish, sharks, shrimps, and everything in between—the Deep Brew Sea event offers full access to the aquarium, unlimited samples of beer, food, and more, and live music. Even though this is only the third year, the event has become wildly popular around the community, so be sure to buy your tickets in advance!

When: June 28th – 29th, 7pm – 10:30pm

Pops on the River

Fireworks in the sky.

What: Celebrate July 4th in Chattanooga with the annual Pops on the River event! The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will be bringing some classics to the waterfront, a wide selection of food and drink vendors will be onsite, and the day concludes with an impressive fireworks show.
