Incline Railway is the world’s steepest passenger railway and offers awe-inspiring, panoramic views of St. Elmo and the Chattanooga Valley. From the top of Lookout Mountain, enjoy breathtaking views from the observation deck and explore historic sites of Civil War interest.

An assortment of charming experiences awaits your descent at the Bottom Incline Station in St. Elmo. Browse quaint gift shops, take a microbrewery tour, enjoy unique coffee or hand-dipped ice cream – the options are endless.

Take note and plan accordingly: the Incline Railway will be closed for seasonal maintenance for approximately 2 weeks beginning February 10th.

Enjoy a Bird’s Eye View at Rock City

MountaintopRock City is 1700 feet above sea level. An impressive 100-foot waterfall cascades down the mountainside, and the famed Swing-A-Long Bridge spans nearly 200 feet. Take a self-guided tour of Rock City and enjoy a birds-eye view from some of the highest points on Lookout Mountain.

There’s a variety of entertainment options in Rock City. A few of visitors’ favorite features include a climbing wall where you can “See Seven States,” viewing exciting birds of prey shows, and dining with a view on the terraces at Lover’s Leap.
